Ditmas Park’s Annual Halloween Parades

Monday, October 24th, 2011

There is no place better in New York City for kids on Halloween than right here. Two Halloween parades attract big crowds and great costumes, and they start off this year at 5pm.

The Prospect Park South Parade, which circles the malls on Albermarle Road, gathers at 1203 Albemarle at 5pm, and the parade begins at 5:30pm.

Then West Midwood’s 28th Annual Halloween Parade, which circles that malls on Glenwood Road and is also always on the day of Halloween, gathers at 6pm at the dead end of Glenwood by the subway cut-off. The parade starts at 6:30pm.

Anybody else wish this was happening on Sunday and not a 9-5 work day?

Does the Glenwood parade happen on the CIA side of the cut or the Ocean Ave side of the cut?

Years ago, lots of kids came ringing our bell, and we would purchase enormous bags of candy. The crowds began thinning a few years ago, and last year only three small groups showed up. Any ideas what’s going on? (Same quality candy. . . .)
