Cafe Madeline Seeking Barristas

Tuesday, October 5th, 2010

From their Facebook page, looks like the counter is in, and we may have another spot to get coffee before too long:

Cafe Madeline is now in search of a serious Barista for a full time position. This is a great opportunity for someone to join our rapidly growing company and work in fantastic new cafe in Ditmas Park Brooklyn. As a preferred Counter Culture customer will will be serving single origin coffees as espresso, drip and single cup brewing. Anyone interested should contact: Alexander Hall alexhall55@gmail.com

TONY writes them up yesterday as if they were already open:

Café Madeline The owners of Milk Bar in Prospect Heights take on another up-and-coming ’hood with this Ditmas Park coffeehouse, serving Counter Culture coffee and simple French fare. Deco-era light fixtures hang above antique church pews and imported French café tables, where locals can take advantage of free Wi-Fi. Stay inside or grab a sidewalk seat to munch on snacks including Ceci-Cela pastries and a selection of ficelles, toasted baguette sandwiches made with fillings such as smoked chicken. 1603 Cortelyou Rd at 16th St, Ditmas Park, Brooklyn (718-941-4020)

How can Time Out be reviewing a place that does not exist yet? To me Time Out has lost their credibility further. Where are they seeing said details, and food, and the like?

  • Karen

Indeed! We live right upstairs and believe me, nothing in there but tools & sawdust. V odd….

  • J

Umm… so Cafe Madeline will be open before the apparently doomed bagel shop?

  • Karen

Well according to Time Out it’s open *now*, so I guess so:)

I hope they got it right about the pastries coming from Ceci-Cela! Their croissants are netter than Balthazar’s, IMHO.

  • Fred

What is up with that bagel shop?!?

Seriously, folks I believe that someone needs to work to keep these storefronts from becoming eyesores. The bagel joint is a joke and Cafe Madeline may be the next foodie eyesore. Can the Community Board or FDC get involved? I think it is critical that proposed restaurants have all their permits and other ducks in a row BEFORE they start construction.

    Cheers!

@William – the bagel store is one thing but don’t compare Madeline to them just yet. They only announced the coffee shop in July and have been posting weekly progress photos on their Facebook page. Granted, Catskill is totally built out and still not open, but let’s not jump to the conclusion that Madeline will be the “next foodie eyesore” just because Time Out made a mistake (or whatever it was that they made). Now, in terms of Catskill…
