A suggestion from Zagat’s blog write-up of unconventional ice cream:
Purple Yam: This Filipino restaurant in Ditmas Park, Brooklyn, serves an ice cream made out of its namesake vegetable and serves it atop “halo halo” – a Philippine iced dessert of sweet beans, palm seed, cocogel, agar agar, coconut sport and jackfruit topped with flan and purple yam ice cream, of course ($2 a scoop for yam ice cream, $6 for halo halo; 718-940-8188).
