on the menu at the Castello Plan – Now Serving Dinner!

Starting tonight, the Castello Plan will be serving dinner sized portions of customer favorites like rabbit and sweet potato, says their amazing Chef Natasha Pogrebinsky. What kind of food? “New European” is her response, and that just sums it up perfectly – a bit French, a bit Ukrainian, a bit Scandinavian. For all of those who enjoy the New American way of cooking (think the Farm on Adderly ), check it out.

The new menu is not on their website yet, but from what we saw the entree prices are in the $11-13 range. Hours are 5pm-2am, 1213 Cortelyou Road, off Argyle. Will update.

    What? No goose.

Rabbit? Like someone’s eating Thumper?? Glad I’m a vegetarian.

If they’re going for more ambitious dinner service, they need to figure out their timing. Every time I’ve eaten there, the food comes out in a most haphazard way–one entree, then another 10 minutes later, maybe a salad 15 minutes after that. Last time we left without getting two of the dishes we’d ordered. It is kind of charming at first–new place, tiny kitchen, etc.–but the novelty has worn off.

Yeah, I hear you Danna – that only really works if everyone’s passing their plates. One time, my friends and I ordered a couple shared plates and each ordered a bigger one. Our shared plates came out first, and then everyone’s large plates but mine. Mine took about 30 minutes longer! I have to stress that my dinner was absolutely incredibly delicious, and I wasn’t exactly suffering as I sat back and waited with my glass of wine. I think it’s just not a place to go if you’re in a rush.

Is the New American way of cooking to over salt/butter/oil everything?
