Stepped in today to see who took over from the Lindeman Florists, and met neighbor Zaid Hussein. Zaid grew up above the grocery his family owns on Newkirk Plaza, and when he heard that Lindeman were considering leaving, jumped at the opportunity. Even though the seemingly never ending construction on the plaza is hurting the merchants, he hopes that knowing the neighborhood intimately (think PS217, Ditmas, Erasmus) will help. And the location is perfect.

What we can expect: A nice, clean store, with better prices than before, Teleflora delivery, and just plain old regular delivery all over Brooklyn. The current selection is a reflection of the fact that he bought the store with everything in there, but  Zaid is very open to suggestions on what to stock, so do stop by, say hi, and let him know what would make you a happy, frequent customer.

Glad to hear this store isn’t going away! And great that a local resident is taking over. I wish Zaid the best of luck with his new venture!

    Thank you all,
I am zaid and proud new owner of Lindeman Florsit. Its now called Newkirk Florist. I am going to have cheaper prices and better service than the previous owners. I believe in treating people with respect not just in the shop but everywhere I go.

This shop has been around for a very very very long time and I wont be the one to close it down. I wake up every morning knowing I have to deal with beautiful flowers and beautiful plants. And not to mention beautiful people.

I been in the community since i was 4 years old and I am now 25 years old. I grew up loving this place and will do my very best to make sure it continues to improve. There is always room for improvement.

I might be new to the flower business but I am a veteran when it comes to servicing my customers needs.

My shop (really your shop also) always has the door open not just to sell you something but to talk and get to know each other better.

    Thank you all!!!

Welcome and congratulations, Zaid. With all the new restaurant openings, I am glad we have a “new” companion florist. It is great that you participate in Teleflora, and I am happy to direct customers who need that service to your business.

Hey thanks for the Welcome Sycmore, I will also direct customers over to you if I cant do it myself. As long as the customer gets what he/she wants than I am happy. I will come over to talk and et to know each other. I hope to build a great relationship where we can rely on each other for help.

It would be nice to have a selection of flowers that are grown locally when they are in season – the carbon footprint of most flowers is very high, and I would definitely be a regular customer if there were locally-grown options.
