Senator Parker blasting a Shofar

Thursday, August 19th, 2010

From Alexander Rapaport:

NYS Senator Kevin S. Parker at a ice-cream meet-and-greet in Borough Park, Brooklyn. Senator Parker met with over 50 Boro Park Chasidic residence. After a two hour conversation on a range of issues, he was offered to perform the blasting of theShofar. A ritual performed by orthodox Jews during the month leading up to Rosh Hashanah. Although it was the first time the Senator was introduced to this tradition, the senator took the hollowed horn of the ram and with no rehearsal was able to blow consecutive blasts as a pro. Those gathered were surprised and amazed at the Senator’s talent.

Nice li’l story, but it seems curiously written, as if by someone else–the careless punctuation and the reverent tone. Hm?

Indeed, the post clearly states that the paragraph was written by someone else, Alexander Rapaport.

Let’s just be glad that K. Parker didn’t beat anyone over the head with the Shofar.

Alexander Rapaport needs to learn to write in complete sentences.

  • I’m not Rapaport

I can’t rite in complete sentences because I’m not Rapaport.

  • Unnamed

    Shofar so good, I guess.

No matter how well Parker blows a shofer he’s about as well suited to be a bal tokaya (shofar blower) as he is to be a State Senator. This time I’m voting for Wellington Sharpe because of Parker’s run in with the law. Sorry – Kevin, but I gave you a chance and you failed us.

My eagle eye indeed did not notice the byline; fine job, Rapaport. And I had forgotten that Mr. Parker was the wacko of recent reportage. I’m afraid I have so burned out on Albany follies that I try to just pretend our state elected officials do not exist (until they start blasting shofars in cyberspace).

    Band practice.
