UPDATE: According to a comment from the owners, she’s been found!
[He're a picture of Ruby, though she had most of her hair cut off just before getting lost and is now gray with white spots and more or less bald.]
To our neighbors,
Thursday night, July 29, our dog Ruby escaped from our backyard on Marlborough Road between Newkirk and Ditmas Avenues. Since this wasn’t discovered for about an hour and we haven’t seen or heard from her since, we fear the worst. She is the sort of dog that will just run, oblivious to danger.
She is an Australian Shepherd with a short summer haircut so now she is charcoal gray, about 60 lbs, with a head of black and white hair where it wasn’t cut, and just a stub of a tail.
If anyone has any info, good or bad, please let us know. She is sorely missed.
You can call them at 917 450 6777.

Once my dog ran off and I called the local precinct who didn’t want to do anything until I said she was a biter. (really she wasn’t)
At that point, they took her description etc and about an hour and a half later I got a call from a gut in Bensonhurst – I lived in Jamaica Queens at the time, that he picked her up and brought her back to Brooklyn. Happy reunion.
The moral-
Tell the police she’s a biter and see if that helps in any way. Also, you need to post your contact info should someone sight her. -

Hi
Just to let you know your dog is definitely still around the neighborhood.
I live on E17th and Cortelyou and was walking along Cortelyou this morning towards the train at 9:30 this morning and your dog came running past me…everyone outside of Met Foods was watching it because they could see it wasn’t with anyone. It was charcoal colored and had no tail.
It turned left on E16th and stood outside of the first apartment building on the east side of the street..That was the last I saw of it.

Hi,
Call animal care and control. They are the city shelter and are required to take any animal. They will pick up stray dogs that are called in to the shelter. When you call them they will search their databases to see if they have a dog matching your description. If they don’t file a missing pet report. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT for you to go to the shelter and look for your pet. (as a volunteer with AC&C I know first hand how hard it can be to identify breeds accurately. You can visit their site at nycacc.org
If I hear anything about an Australian Shepherd I will let you know.

RUBY IS BACK!!
She was found in Marine Park by a wonderful couple. She was identified by a vet they brought her to by the embedded ID chip in her.
She seems very tired, but healthy.
This is a miracle to me.
