We never had $$ to buy and rented. How times have changed!! Now we are the Fiske Terrace/Midwood Park Historic District, have so many choices to go out for lunch or dinner, none of which were here in 1979, live in this super neighborhood that has only changed for the better: PS 217, Murrow and Midwood High Schools, the "Q" etc. Our neighbors are wonderful, we have each other's keys, etc. I am made more aware how lucky we are every time I talk to a friend or sibling who lives in the suburbs. I used to say that one of the positives of Victorian Flatbush was it's proximity to Park Slope - now we never go there - too expensive and can't park!! OK, that was 23 years ago; the bargains may be gone, but the friendliness, gardens, driveways, park proximity live on, along with what I have come to term the "diversity on steroids." My current CrazyStable post is a paean to all that we love here, btw.
