Rant Van

Monday, October 25th, 2010

Christy and Jonny Sheehan of Marlborough Road email over the early notices of their new project, Rant Van, an inspired and demented twist on StoryCorps.

You can check them out on WPIX and The Brooklyn Paper, which wrote:

Finally, you get a chance to tell the world what’s on your mind. Would you choose the midterm elections, gentrification, noisy neighbors, the Bloomberg health police or just a freestyle rant?

This is the tantalizing premise of The Rant Van — a television studio on wheels — that gives Brooklynites the opportunity to “go in and go off” in rotating locations.

“It’s food truck meets op-ed,” said Christy Sheehan, who collects video-recorded diatribes with her husband Jonny for their Web site,rantvan.com.

Christy ads: “The RantVan is  soapbox for the digital age and since we know the followers of the Ditmas Park Blog often have things on their mind (see Catskill Bagels)  we thought they might want to know about the RantVan.”

An entertaining — and not work or kid safe — sample rant:

I saw this van down by Brooklyn College the other day… pretty nifty idea, but I do have to admit the first thought I had was “Are they just luring people into the van and then they’ll slam the door and kidnap you?” :-)

LOL @ J: Gives new meaning to the term “anger management” :)

I’ve been ranting on Marlborough Road for years…never thought to leverage it into a van and website. Of course, I never thought to do it for my cupcakes, either.
